THE PROBLEM
- In the United States, on average, every two minutes,
a child is bought or sold for sex - The average age of a child sold for sex in Tennessee
is 13 years. - Human trafficking is the second-fastest growing criminal
industry, just behind drug trafficking in Tennessee. - Human trafficking has just about touched every county
in Tennessee - The internet intensifies the problem, due to accessibility
and a false sense of privacy - In April 2019, a new law signed by Gov Bill Lee of
Tennessee requires,“all public school teachers, to receive
one-time training to detect, intervene, prevent and treat
human trafficking victims in their classrooms”
